A Jacksonville leader in active transportation has joined the Florida Bicycle Association’s Board of Directors, becoming part of a highly accomplished team of volunteer board leaders dedicated to advocating for safer bicycling conditions throughout Florida.

The Florida Bicycle Association is pleased to announce the sponsors and featured speakers for the upcoming statewide bicycle summit, taking place November 15-17 in Winter Garden and Clermont. The summit, themed “Breaking Stereotypes, Building Communities,” will bring together transportation professionals, advocates, and community leaders to focus on making Florida a safer and more accessible place for people bicycling.

Proposed legislation that would make it easier for communities to enforce vehicle speed limits in school zones has been passed in the Florida House and Senate.

A bill in the Florida Senate that would expand the state’s Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail network and Greenways and Trails System will be heard next week by the Appropriations Committee, and an identical bill has been introduced in the Florida House of Representatives.
